Summer Soul Care: Essentials to Take On the Go

WELCOME TO SUMMER!

I love that summer seems less structured and more carefree. It is also a time when the routines that anchor us can be tossed aside. To have a more authentic faith practice I have found that every day I need to create space to connect back to myself and God, to find a moment of stillness, and to express gratitude. Here is one practical tip that can help you to make part of your soul-care routine transportable.

Create your own "Soul Sanctuary Basket". Gather your favorite items that support you in connecting with yourself and God. Here are a few suggestions:

Journals/Notebooks: Start with selecting journals that speak to you. I have several journals that I write in. One is for gratitude and how I saw the hand of God in my life that day. One is specifically for what I want to create and new beliefs I want to work on. Another for prayers and inspiration. I love the spiral-bound journals from TJMaxx that are usually less than $8. Guided journals can help you become more aware. Here are two of my favorites.

Pens and highlighters: Expressing yourself in writing is more fun with a great pen. My favorite is the Pilot G-2 .5mm.

Books: Choose books that inspire you or provide spiritual nourishment. It could be scriptures, a novel that transports you to new realms, or a guidebook for personal growth. I am currently studying At One Ment by Thomas McConkie and How To Know A Person by David Brooks.

Post-it Notes: To jot down inspiration when it strikes.

Reading Glasses: At our age who doesn’t need a good pair of reading glasses? No more searching if you keep a pair handy in your basket.

Favorite Magazines: Select a few of your favorite magazines that uplift and inspire you. Whether they're related to spirituality, wellness, or hobbies you love.

Essential Oils or a Candle: Pick out your preferred essential oils, choosing scents that calm your mind, uplift your spirits, or promote focus and clarity. Or throw in your favorite candle and lighter to set the mood.

A Little Snack or Favorite Drink: Maybe include something sweet, or your favorite bevvy to sip on. My current favorite tea is Sweet & Spicy by Good Earth.

Once you have gathered these items, arrange them in a basket or bag that is portable and easy to move from room to room, or take with you on the go in your car, or wherever your summer adventures take you. Hit reply and share what else you would include in your basket.

If you feel disconnected from yourself or have difficulty feeling connected to the Divine I would love to have a conversation. I have helped many women feel more at peace with who they are. Let's chat!
